mediaSync New Build

This week I had a chat with a user of mediaSync who expressed frustration with the mechanism of deletion that mediaSync uses to remove media from the local library. In conversation with this supporter I became convinced that it may be a better idea to simply "move" the local media files from one location to another as opposed to deleting them.

In the previous way of handling things if a mistake was made and tracks were removed from the remote device the net impact would be the removal of the library from the local disk as well - perhaps not a good thing. The application is sort of functional this way by design but also a security net here may be a nice enhancement.

In order to facilitate this functionality I have enhanced mediaSync as of build to NOT remove local tracks from disk on sync but rather move them and remove the library reference to them.  If a track is removed from the iTunes library the media file will be moved to the following paths:
  • XP:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ahSolutions.mediaSync\deletedLocalFiles

  • Vista/7
  • C:\ProgramData\ahSolutions.mediaSync\deletedLocalFiles
It is my hope that this functionality will add greater use to the application. If you are presently a registered user of the application just download the latest build and install over the top of your current install to gain this functionality.
