In the EDI components of my work we are frequently exchanging data with customers that is perhaps not the best of quality. In particular there are cases where we get non-ASCII data in our transfers. In truth we probably should be able to handle these data values but today we cannot - mostly because there is nothing above ASCII 127 that we need to make use of.  So... we need a solution to clean this data before we inject it into our process. Ok so a few days ago I posted about my frustrations with my PogoPlug device and for the record I still believe this to be a problem. I did however come up with something that will work as a work around for my problem. Be advised this is not for the noob but it also isn't so complicated that only an engineer can figure it out. Have you seen these little things called PogoPlug devices? They are these little gadgets that allow you to hook up USB (or SD) storage volumes to the public Internet. There is software for most every flavor of operating environment, including all of the mobile options, that allows remote access to a bunch of "personal cloud" based storage. Their software even allows you to map drives to any one of your connected machines and access the defined shares points as if they were local a part of your local file system - neat right?
