MediaSync

mediaSync is a Windows tool designed to help sync an iTunes library with a portable music player - or anything with removable media for that matter (USB drive). It is designed for true two-way sync of media additions/removals - and to do it quickly. If you have not checked this free product out and are frustrated by other "sync" solutions on the market why not give it a go? In the latest build of the product (1.0.0.4) I resolved some issues that a user reported with regard to proper playlist generation. There were cases where some tracks were not properly being added to playlist files - oops...

This week I had a chat with a user of mediaSync who expressed frustration with the mechanism of deletion that mediaSync uses to remove media from the local library. In conversation with this supporter I became convinced that it may be a better idea to simply "move" the local media files from one location to another as opposed to deleting them. There is now a new build of MediaSync ready for use. The only changes that I have posted are bug fix type things. Mostly I corrected some handlers if files on either side are "Corrupt" and some coding changes with how the iTunes library file is processed. Basically the application is now handling odd cases better. If you are looking to get the latest build just head over to the project page and click on the download link.

The short story is that it is a thin Windows utility for keeping your iTunes library and non-Apple portable player (Android, Nokia, etc) in sync. Yesterday I had the chance to test it in an environment I had not seen before - one with 800 podcast entries in the library. In the test I had the chance to see a few opportunities to refine some things and have corrected those items. The new installer has been post...

If you have an Android phone - or any non-Apple portable player you probably have wondered how to keep in in sync with iTunes. You may have even tried a few of the options that are scattered around the web. I am a firm believer in the Android platform but I also have years of music stored neatly in my iTunes interface. After fighting with several options to keep these worlds in sync I opted to write my own solution which is today being released as mediaSync.  mediaSync is a purpose built application designed to be lightweight and provide the basics of keeping iTunes in sync with ANY po...
